Facebook shop

Facebook Shop has been announced by Mark Zuckerberg as a new way of helping small businesses sell online.

The Covid-19 pandemic took its toll on many businesses around the world. This pushed Facebook to take the next major step by launching “shops” for both Facebook and Instagram.

Any small business can now start their own shop and sell thing directly across Facebook and Instagram. When visiting someone’s shop, you’ll be able to see their business’s story and products they sell. You’ll also be able to buy these products directly on Facebook and Instagram without leaving the app.

Facebook explains the following:

Facebook Shops make it easy for businesses to set up a single online store for customers to access on both Facebook and Instagram. Creating a Facebook Shop is free and simple. Businesses can choose the products they want to feature from their catalog and then customize the look and feel of their shop with a cover image and accent colors that showcase their brand. This means any seller, no matter their size or budget, can bring their business online and connect with customers wherever and whenever it’s convenient for them.

How will it work?

  • Facebook will provide eligible businesses with a link to a new ‘Shop Builder’ platform.
  • Businesses will be able to upload their product listings one-by-one, or connect to their existing eCommerce provider

Facebook is working with Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, ChannelAdvisor, CedCommerce, Cafe24, Tienda Nube and Feedonomics to facilitate this process.

What does this mean for Facebook Marketers?

We believe that this will give businesses even more reasons to buy ads on these two giant social media apps.
