Facebook Shop has been announced by Mark Zuckerberg as a new way of helping small businesses sell online.

The Covid-19 pandemic took its toll on many businesses around the world. This pushed Facebook to take the next major step by launching “shops” for both Facebook and Instagram.

Any small business can now start their own shop and sell thing directly across Facebook and Instagram. When visiting someone’s shop, you’ll be able to see their business’s story and products they sell. You’ll also be able to buy these products directly on Facebook and Instagram without leaving the app.

Facebook has introduced ‘care reactions’ for both Facebook and Messenger. It’s to help people show others support against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Facebook ‘Quiet Mode’ has recently rolled out giving users the opportunity to schedule a social media break.

It is noticeable that people are spending more time on social platforms amid the COVID-19 lockdowns. But it is also important to take a break from it. Dark mode changes the background colour of the app, especially making it much easier on the eyes – particularly when using your phone in the evening.

Facebook ad limit – something we as ad buyers should be thinking about. In the past you could go bananas with Facebook ads, run as many as you like on your Facebook page(s) but unfortunately all the fun has come to an end. Facebook has announced that it will soon implement limits on how many ads a Page can run.

“In mid-2020, we are implementing a limit on the number of ads each Page can run at the same time. The ad limits will impact just a small percentage of advertisers, and we plan to share more details about the limits early in 2020”

A lot has changed since the start of the Facebook algorithm. It has now come to the point where users believe that Facebook follows them around, listening to what their conversations are about and reads their minds. Crazy right? However, there is a little truth to it… and it’s called the Facebook algorithm. 

As we all know, Facebook was born in 2004. What’s interesting is that the newsfeed didn’t show up until 2006. We can basically say that it was the start of endless scrolling and how we all know Facebook today. 

The Like button premiered in 2007. It’s probably safe to say that Facebook didn’t have what we think of as “the algorithm” until 2009, when the platform debuted a new sorting order for newsfeeds based on each post’s popularity. (Goodbye, reverse-chronological order).
